The position is within a joint project of the German Science Foundation and the National Science Foundation of China for the investigation of Long-Term Interactions of Landuse and Precipitation in the Hai River and Poyang Lake Regions in China. The position is for a maximum of three years.
The successful candidate will further develop a coupled atmospheric/hydrologic model system for regional water cycling and use it to analyze land surface – atmosphere interactions. This project is in close cooperation with partners from Hohai University .
Requirements:
Doctoral degree in hydrology, meteorology, physics, environmental science or engineering, or a related field, experience in the application of regional atmospheric or hydrological numerical models, and proficiency in an advanced programming language and Matlab or R. Experience in High Performance Computing is an asset. The successful candidate must show an inclination for cross-disciplinary collaboration and be prepared to travel internationally.
