Sweden : Post-Doc at the Department or Physics and Astronomy

Post-Doc

at the Ångström laboratory, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Subdepartment of High-Energy Physics, Accelerator Physics group, to be filled soon for a period of two years.

Within the accelerator-physics group we perform research towards future accelerators, in particular the  the Compact LInear Collider CLIC for which Uppsala University built the Two-Beam Test-Stand at the CLIC Test Facility CTF3 at CERN in Geneva. Within the framework of a Grant from the Seventh European Framework Program EuCARD we will expand our activities.

The Post-Doc will work on one of the fundamental limitations for future linear colliders: the breakdown in radio-frequency accelerating structures. The research work includes investigating the physics of the breakdown by stimulating and analyzing discharges in-situ in electron microscopes in Uppsala and upgrading the Two-Beam Test-Stand at CERN. The candidate is expected to spend part of the time at CERN.

We are looking for an excellent, strongly motivated candidate with a keen interest in experimental methods and the ability to design instrumentation. Background in material- or acceleratorphysics are considered a bonus. Good communicational skills, both orally and in written English are desirable as well as the capability to work both independently and in a team.

For appointment as Post-Doc it is required that the candidate has completed a doctoral degree no longer than three years ago. Local guidelines for the salary class are applicable.

Your application should include a short description of research interests and relevant experiences, curriculum vitae, copy of relevant diplomas, doctoral thesis or an outline of the thesis, and other relevant information you wish to include. Candidates are asked to provide names of reference persons or to include letters of recommendation.
