Postdoc research associates in Wireless Mobile N/W, Australia

The Wireless Networking Group (WiNG), led by Dr. Abbas Jamalipour at the School of Electrical and Information Engineering, University of Sydney pursues advanced research and development for individual networks and their integration toward a collaborated heterogeneous architecture. We work on the architecture design and related protocols and techniques to make the future mobile broadband Internet closer. We also work on securing the information network and bringing both infrastructure-based networks (e.g. cellular mobile, wireless LAN, and WiMax) and infrastructure-less networks (e.g. ad hoc and sensor networks) into a mutual agreement and collaboration.
Under a Discovery Project funded by the Australian Research Council, we are working on development of pervasive data dissemination framework and its protocols using wireless mobile ad hoc networks. We are looking for a research fellow who could be part of this project and to perform research in collaboration with the current research members of the group.
Essential selection criteria for this position include:
  • Has a recent PhD or has submitted the PhD thesis in the field of Wireless or Mobile Networks or related fields
  • Capable of performing simulation and analysis of the mobile communications networks
  • Good publication track record in the field of wireless networking in prestigious journals/conferences such as IEEE Transactions and international conferences
Successful applicant should also have:
  • Previous participation in research projects and successful outcomes from those projects
  • Simulation programming and project management skills
It is desirable that the successful applicant has prior experience in:
  • Research project participation and publication in the field of Mobile Ad Hoc network or similar
  • Research student (undergraduate/postgraduate) supervision/mentoring
  • Research proposal writing

The position is full-time fixed term for one year, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees, with further offer of another six months subject to funding, need and performance. Membership of a superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.
Remuneration package: up to 79,854 p.a. (which includes a base salary up to $67,478 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation).
