ILVO – The Institute of Agriculture and Fisheries is a multidisciplinary research centre with focus on the support for sustainable agriculture, horticulture and fishery. The Social Science unit is looking for a PhD candidate:
The candidate will carry out a variety of research tasks. You will be reporting your work to principles and/or publish in scientific journals. The candidate will be affiliated with the research group Integration and will be member of the social sciences unit. It is strongly encouraged although not required that the candidate write a PhD dissertation. The project aims at analyzing the "financial analysis of risk and risk management in agriculture" with a strong emphasis on empirical approaches using farm level accounting data. The project aims at analyzing the economic aspects (governmental policy, farm performance, financing) related to risk management of farms located in Flanders (Belgium).
The candidate should possess a Master Degree or Master after Master in Applied Economics (e.g. Commercial Engineering), Economics (Econometrics) , Operational Research, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Financial Mathematics or equally relevant. Ideally, the candidate is interested in quantitative/ empirical research and has strong analytical and technical capabilities in economic methods. Knowledge of specific characteristics in agriculture provides an advantage although it is not required. The agricultural expertise within the Institute will provide sufficient support to the candidate. Prior experience is not required. Knowledge of Dutch constitutes an advantage.
