At the Department of Mathematical Sciences, NTNU, there are 3 vacant PhD research fellowship positions.
The PhD research fellowship positions are intended to give the candidates an opportunity to pursue a research activity on a high level leading to a doctoral degree. The Department of Mathematical Sciences conduct research on an international high level within the main disciplines, mathematical analysis, algebra, geometry/topology, numerical analysis and statistics. Part of the research is also done in close cooperation with other fields of science and technology within NTNU as well as in cooperation with industry and external research institutions.
The Department of Mathematical Sciences want to support the best candidates and therefore makes no restriction on the field of research except that it has to be within the main subjects of the department as mentioned above. Each applicant has to contact one of the research groups at the department in order to the get in contact with an adviser, and together with the advisor produce a short project description. Strategic considerations may be taken in the final election process.
Applicants must have a master/cand.scient/siv.ing.-degree within one of the subjects covered by the department (mathematics, statistics or numerical analysis) or a corresponding education and also satisfy the requirement for entering the PhD-program at NTNU. See http://www.ime.ntnu.no/forskning/phd for information about the PhD-program at NTNU.
MSc-students in their last year are also invited to apply. Employment will then take effect as soon as the master degree is finished.
