Embedded systems position in Germany

W3 Professor of Embedded Systems in Information Engineering

The successful candidate will have an outstanding scientific reputation in the field of embedded systems and several years of successful industry-related or industry-relevant research and development experience.

The future post holder's scientific work will focus on one or more of the key research areas

  • computer and processor architecture
  • real-time systems
  • hardware/software codesign and design automation

with applications in the areas of automation engineering, vehicular technology, telecommunications or other technical fields.

International visibility through publications and projects, above-average acquisition of third-party funding and proof of particular aptitude for academic teaching are expected.

Teaching responsibilities include compulsory lectures on computer architecture and embedded processors. The post holder should be willing to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration in teaching and research with partners within and outside the faculty. Appropriate participation in the self-governing tasks of the university is expected.

2 Research Group Leaders (m/f) in Germany

Description:

HI-STEM will employ state of the art stem cell technology to develop novel therapies for targeting cancer and metastasis. The research groups will cooperate with the clinical departments of the University of Heidelberg as well as with Biotech and Pharmaceutical companies located in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan area. HI-STEM is a central component of the BioRN Programme “Cell Based and Molecular Medicine” supported by the German Ministry for Education and Research.

We are seeking to appoint outstanding internationally-recognized scientists (PhD or MD) to develop our research interests in the following areas: Cancer Stem Cells, Metastasis Stem Cells, Interferons in Leukemic Stem Cells, Cancer Microenvironment, Stem Cell Niches, Cultivation of Normal and Malignant Stem Cells in complex 3D systems and Mechanisms of Drug Resistance. Core facilities (animal, FACS, Genomics etc.) are available and attractive packages will be provided for the new groups.

Your profile:

We expect an outstanding publication record in the area of stem cells and cancer or metastasis, at least 3 years of post-doctoral work, practical experience in various state-of-the-art stem cell and cancer methods. Fluency in written and spoken English is a must. Strong communication, writing and presentation skills are essential and we expect participation in the preparation of internal reports, Grant applications, regulatory documents and manuscripts.

The positions are available from November 1st and appointments will be initially for 5 years. Employer will be HI-STEM.

Germany : Phd Position in COnginitive neuroscience technology

Our profile

RWTH Aachen University is one of Europe's leading educational and research institutions, with core competencies in the natural and engineering sciences.

HumTec is an interdisciplinary "project house" at RWTH Aachen University funded as part of the excellence initiative by the federal government and the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia. HumTec aims at fostering high level interdisciplinary research between the humanities/social sciences and the engineering/natural sciences.
The HumTec program “Brain, Concept, Writing” investigates the genesis of complex literary concepts in an interdisciplinary team of researchers from the fields of literature, neuroscience and computer science.


Your profile

Candidates for this position should hold a degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, Medicine or closely related disciplines. Experience in the realm of cognitive neuroscience, functional imaging methods and statistics would be of advantage. German language skills are required.

Your duties

The candidate will examine the neurofunctional production and comprehension processes of literary texts in the human brain, in close cooperation with researchers of the Central Service Facility “Functional Imaging” at the University Hospital Aachen (
www.izkf.rwth-aachen.de).


Salary will be TVL-13 (100%) till 31.12.2010, and TVL-13 (50%) for the remaining time.
The position is to be filled as soon as possible and is limited to a period of 2 years with the option of elongation.


Our offer

The candidate will be employed as a regular employee. The candidate must meet required personal qualifications.

Phd and Master positions in Life Sciences, Germany

International Graduate School at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster

The International Graduate School ’Molecular Interactions of Pathogens with Biotic and Abiotic Surfaces’ (funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) offers 13 PhD and 8 MD fellowships in the Life Sciences.


The second class will start on January 1st, 2010.
Funding will be for 36 months.

Deadline for applications is September 1st, 2009.

The Graduate School combines research interests of groups from the Departments of Medicine, Biology, and Chemistry to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying the interactions of pathogens with cellular barriers and abiotic surfaces. The three year PhD program will provide excellent training and research opportunities in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, infectiology, microbiology, and molecular biomedicine accompanied by additional soft skills programs.


The Graduate School offers a continuous educational program including training courses in methods and techniques. Seminars given by leading scientists will foster a broad view on current topics in molecular life sciences. The program encourages close cooperation across scientific disciplines in a stimulating scientific environment.

Scientist Position in Germany

Young Scientist Position in Immunology/Liver Disease, Aachen, Germany

Funded research positions are available at Aachen University Hospital, Germany. Applications are invited both from EU and non-EU students. Thus Pakistani students are eligible to apply.


Research positions are available to motivated young scientists to join our research group. Our group at the Medical Clinic III at Aachen University Hospital is working on the role of monocyte subsets in models of inflammatory liver disease. The project includes a variety of modern immunological, molecular and cellular biological techniques and implies the analysis and characterization of knockout-mice. Our department is equipped with the most up-to-date technical resources and offers an international and competitive surrounding.
The project is sponsored by the German Research Council (DFG) and is expected to last 3 years.
