Our 12,800 undergraduates and 2500 graduate students come from across the United States and, currently, from 64 different countries around the world. Our safe, rural campus is only 10 minutes from the ocean, located on the northeast coast of the U.S. and easily accessible to such major cities as Boston (90 minutes north) and New York City (less than 3 hours south). From campus, students can take public bus transportation to Kingston's Amtrak train station (1 mile from campus) and to Rhode Island's T.F. Green International Airport (20 minutes north of campus).
URI offers merit scholarships to international freshmen applicants. These applicants must apply by the early action deadline of December 1, 2009. The scholarships range in amounts from $5,000 to $12,000 per year. Please check our admission web site for details on the application process and the costs of attending. Go to this site and
click into "international admission" (www.uri.edu/admission).
URI offers more than 80 majors in our seven degree-granting colleges: Arts and Sciences, Business Administration (AACSB accredited), Engineering (with ABET accredited programs), Environment & Life Sciences, Human Science and Services, Nursing, and Pharmacy. Our newest major is a four year Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Science, which prepares students to work in the field of research,
development, marketing, manufacturing and sales in the global pharmaceutical industry.
Our regular freshmen application deadline for fall 2010 admission is February 1st. Our early action, non-binding freshmen deadline is December 1, 2009 and we encourage you to apply by this early action deadline if you are interested in Pharmacy or Nursing as a major, or if you are interested in being considered for our merit scholarship. (URI now uses the Common Application. See our website for specific
information on completing this application and the URI Common Application Supplement.)
