The successful applicant will work on developing tools for identifying and mapping areas likely to contain essential/preferred fish habitat. The main focus of this research will be on the use of geostatistical analytical techniques and simulations to investigate the relationships between fish population distributions and environmental parameters. (See http://eu-fp7-coralfish.net/fish_habitat_utilisation_WP7.php for further information).

The candidate will benefit from working in conjunction with staff in the Geomatics & Marine Ecology teams at the Coastal and Marine Resources Centre, UCC, and will be formally supervised by Dr Michael Cronin in the Department of Statistics, School of Mathematical Sciences, UCC.
