Up to 60 University Studentships for postgraduate studies are available at the University of Sheffield for entry in 2009-10. Awards are open to UK, EU and international applicants.

General Description
The University of Sheffield, one of the top-ranked research-led universities in the UK is pleased to announce a major investment in the development of our postgraduate community. 60 University Studentships are available to students wishing to undertake postgraduate study in any Faculty of the University. The Studentships will provide tuition fees at the UK/EU rate, a maintenance grant of either £6,645 or £13,290 per annum, and a Research Training Support Grant.

Studentships are available as follows:
Faculty of Arts & Humanities: one-year Masters and three-year research degrees
Faculty of Engineering: three-year research degrees
Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry & Health: three-year research degrees
Faculty of Science: three-year research degrees
Faculty of Social Sciences (including Architectural Studies and Law): one-year Masters and three-year research degrees
(Note that the Faculty of Social Sciences particularly welcomes applications of an interdisciplinary nature).

Eligibility
The Studentships are available to applicants who will register on their first year of study with the University in 2009-10 on a full-time programme of postgraduate study. Awards are tenable for either one year (Masters) or three years (PhD), with the latter renewable subject to satisfactory progress.

Awards are open to UK, EU and international applicants. International applicants are only eligible providing they can demonstrate that they have sufficient funds to cover the difference between the UK and international students tuition fee.

ITRI Graduate Scholarship Programfor Masters degrees
This program is similar to the PhD program except that the scholarship provided is for Bachelor's Degree holders to study for a Master’s Degree (MS). Scholarship is provided for 2 years of study in a Master’s program at National Chiao Tung University or National Tsing Hua University, in exchange for a work commitment to ITRI following graduation of 2 years.

The Lero Graduate School in Software Engineering (LGSSE) offers a four-year PhD program provided jointly by the four leading Irish Universities involved in Lero (Dublin City University, Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin and University of Limerick). Fully funded PhD studentships are available for the year 2009.

Program Description
The first year includes taught modules in research theory and practice, as well as technical software engineering modules. Also during the first year the candidate will prepare a research proposal that will be the basis for a three year individual research project. In this way LGSSE combines the best features of the European and US models of PhD education.

Studentships
We are now offering generous four-year PhD studentships covering stipend, equipment and fees, awarded on a competitive basis. The scholarship will include stipend, fees and also some travel/equipment to a value of €23,000 per annum. This amounts to almost €100,000 over the 4 years. The closing date for scholarship applications is 28th of February 2009.

English Language Requirements
The TOEFL score required is a minimum of 550 and IELTS is 6.5. If you have a score close to this we can review your application and there is a possibility you can be accepted on the course if you attend classes in the language centre. Also if we request it you will need to provide a letter from your University informing us that you have the required english language skills.

KAUST Discovery Scholarships, Saudi Arabia

The KAUST Discovery Scholarships are for students who are currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program and would like to attend KAUST in 2010 or 2011. The KAUST Discovery Scholarship is designed to ensure that highly talented students who are qualified and eligible to enroll in KAUST will receive full financial support, including tuition costs, a living stipend, and summer and career enrichment program. Upon graduation, these students will enter KAUST as master's degree students in September 2010 or 2011, to complete their graduate studies on a fully funded scholarship.

Eligibility
Students may apply for a KAUST Discovery Scholarship directly, or they may be nominated by a professor at their institution.

To apply for the KAUST Discovery Scholarship, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:
Be currently enrolled in a bachelor's/first university degree program in a KAUST-relevant field of study.

Current field of study must be in a KAUST-relevant area, such as Engineering, Mathematics, or the Physical, Chemical and Biological Sciences.
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent in other international grading systems.

OFID Scholarship Award 2009/10

OFID (The OPEC Fund for International Development) is pleased to announce that qualified undergraduate students are welcome to apply for the OFID Scholarship 2009/10. The OFID Scholarship will be awarded to support an undergraduate student from any developing country, to pursue higher education in a relevant field of development, in any recognized university/college in the world.

Through its scholarship scheme, OFID aims to help highly motivated, highly driven individuals overcome one of the biggest challenges to their careers – the cost of advanced professional or graduate training. The winner of the OFID Award will receive a scholarship of up to US$100,000 The funds will be spread over a maximum of two years, toward the completion of a Master’s degree, or its equivalent, at an accredited educational institution, starting in the autumn of the academic year 2009/10.

Eligibility
To be eligible the candidate must meet ALL of the following criteria:
Must be between the ages of 23-32 at the time of submitting his/her application.
Must be a graduating student with a Baccalaureate from a four-year, accredited college/university, or its equivalent.
Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 rating system, or its equivalent.

Must be matriculated at an accredited university for the upcoming academic year starting September 2009, and must maintain full-time status for the duration of the Masters Degree.
Must be a national of a developing country (please see list of eligible countries below)
Must select a subject of study that pertains to OFID’s core mission, such as: economics of development (poverty reduction, energy and sustainable development), environment (desertification), or other related science and technology fields.

Disbursement of the Scholarship Fund
The terms and conditions of payment will be determined in coordination with the student upon his/her selection in accordance with the following guidelines:
The tuition fees, including any supplementary examination fees, as may be required by the academic institution, will be paid by OFID directly to the academic institution. Health insurance will be paid in accordance with the institution’s own standard medical scheme.
A monthly allowance to cover living expenses, books and accommodation, will be transferred to the student’s own personal bank account on a quarterly basis.
Prior to the start of his/her first year studies, the student will be paid a relocation grant, equal to two-month allowance. OFID will also pay for travel costs from the nearest airport to the student’s place of residence, to the nearest airport to the chosen place of study. Upon completion of the studies, the student will be paid the cost of one-way air ticket to his/her home country.

PhD Fellowships

Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS) seeks candidates with strong academic abilities and a Master's degree (or equivalent) in political science, sociology, psychology, law, economics or other social science disciplines. We offer Ph.D. stipends of 1250 euros/month for 36 months, contingent on successful completion of each year.

Postdoc Fellowships

We seek candidates pursuing English-language publication projects either from their dissertation (by making findings available to an international audience through a book or journal article) or from a new project. Postdoc stipends of 1750 euros/month may run from 6 to 24 months. The competition is open to candidates who have received a doctorate in political science, sociology, psychology, law, economics or other social science disciplines within the last 3 years, or who can be expected to finish prior to commencing their post-doc stay.

Successful applicants for the Ph.D. and Post-doc Fellowships will pursue a topic in one of BIGSSS' five Thematic Fields:

Masters Program at United Nations University for Peace

Headquartered in Costa Rica, the United Nations-mandated University for Peace (UPEACE) was established in 1980 as a Treaty Organization by the UN General Assembly.
